Alexander Balan is a grade 12 student studying in the IB program at White Oaks Secondary School and is excited for his first year as a part of the Oakville Symphony. Alex discovered his love for the double bass as soon as he was tall enough to play it. Inspired by his grade 7 music teacher, he has now been playing for 5 years and continues to enjoy all avenues of the instrument. Through his participation in the Oakville Symphony Youth Orchestra for 3 years, being the bassist in the Pit Band for both “Crazy For You” and “Annie” at his high school and starting his own Pop Cover Ensemble Alex loves to be active in many aspects music. When he is not studying or playing bass Alex enjoys scuba diving and is a PADI
certified Rescue Diver on track to his Master Scuba Diver rating. He is eager to be a part of the many equally passionate musicians in the Oakville Symphony this season.
